Our sinful human nature encourages us to push and shove our way to the “top.”

Most of us probably played “King of the Mountain” when we were kids. A game in which one kid stands on top of some high spot (his/her mountain) and tries to push everyone else down off his mountain while everyone else tries to push him off and take his coveted spot of “King of the Mountain.”

It’s a fun and normally harmless game but unfortunately most adults keep playing that kind of game in the way they live. When they want some thing or some honor they push and shove everyone else out of they way. The more people they stomp under foot the higher they rise. But when they reach the top it’s not satisfying and they have to find the next mountain to take all the while protecting their possession from others who want to throw them down and grab their spot.

But God has a better way…
