With all the magnificent and important things that happened in the life of Moses it may be surprising that a simple rock became the deciding factor of whether he would see this mission completed. Numbers 20:6-13 tells us that when the people were quarreling because they had no water God told Moses to speak to a rock and water would come out. But when, in a fit of rage, Moses struck the rock God sent water pouring out but told Moses that because of his disobedience he would not get to enter the Promised Land. The Rock that was a blessing to the people was a snare to Moses.
Today in our third sermon in this series on 1 Peter we will see how our response to a Rock can change everything.
