A pause can be a powerful thing. Any parent can attest that a pause in the regular noise at the wrong time spells trouble. Last year while I was at the Platte Valley Academy Convocation Sirac and another man from Union College gave a concert. One of the piano pieces that Sirac played had measures of silence—a pause—right in the piece which added to the feel of the song.
Jesus was crucified and died on Friday (the preparation day) and He resurrected on Sunday but in the middle of these two days was a pause—the Sabbath. Jesus upheld the law not only by making sure that the penalty for our sins had been paid but also by dying before Sabbath and resting in the tomb during the Sabbath.
What happened on that Sabbath, during that pause?...
